Human Powered Vehicle Team
The UCDavis Human Powered Vehicle Team (HPV) is a student engineering group whose goal is to design an aerodynamic and
highly engineering land vehicle. They participate in a nation competition anually sponsored by The American Society of Engineers.
Designing, building, and racing a human powered vehicle for the ASME HPV challenge is a challenging and rewarding experience for students at UCDavis.
The competition provides an excellent opportunity for engineering students to practice classroom knowledge on real-world applications. Team members
gain important skills in teamwork, leadership, and time management.
Team HPV is a non-profit student organization committed to creating an advanced competition vehicle that will represent the University as well as the local Davis Community.
In the competition, the HPV teams are judged not only on the performance of the vehicle on the racetrack, but also on other factors, such as a technical
presentation of the design, construction, and safety of the vehicle. This presentation score alone is worth a third of the overall competition. Placement in a
sprint and a 40-mile road race are also a part of the final score.
